Installation Tips for Marker Walls: We Ask the Experts

A Claridge Marker Wall is a fantastic addition to any office, classroom, or athletic facility, providing a versatile surface for brainstorming, teaching, and sporting success. Installation of one of these amazing collaborative spaces may seem intimidating, but it is actually quite straightforward if you follow our detailed instructions for both LCS porcelain or glass versions that can be found on the resources page of the Claridge website. However, having assisted in the installation of Marker Walls I did note that there could be some small issues that may arise, but not to worry because we asked our in-house installation experts Shawn Leal and Kyle Honeycutt to provide their top three troubleshooting tips for making sure your install project goes smoothly.

1. This may seem simple, but the best way to ensure an easy installation of these multi-panel units is to make sure that the first panel that goes on the wall is plumb and level. Otherwise, those issues will persist and get worse as you continue. Starting off on the right foot will make the job easier in the long run.

2. When installing glass systems use caution when butting panels together so they do not break or chip. Tempered glass does not play nicely with other tempered glass, so it is always recommended to use the provided plastic t-molds in between panels during the installation process to protect the edges. Once everything is in place the t-mold can be slid out to complete the job.

3. Because Marker Walls can be made to be essentially floor to ceiling, sometimes there is a need for cut-outs to accommodate electrical outlets. When doing this in the field with LCS porcelain units it is important to protect the face of the writing surface so that it does not get scratched. For glass units which cannot be cut on site we always suggest double and triple measuring just to make sure everything is accurate for cutting in the factory.
